Canglong Gorge is located in the south of Laiwu City, at the foot of Lianhua Mountain, in a tributary of the upper reaches of the Dawen River. Canglong Gorge is several tens of feet deep. Pines and cypresses are intertwined and overshadow the sky. The natural karst caves on the gorge wall are some as large as a living room, some unfathomable, and some caves are connected. There are many strange rocks, which are of great ornamental value. There are waterfalls, flowing springs, strange stones, etc. in the gorge. The water is green and clear. After heavy rains in summer, the flood rushes down. The water mist rushes up several feet high. The sound of thunder resounds for several miles. It is like a green dragon rising. This is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Laiwu, the ‘Thunder in Cangxia’ landscape. Therefore, the ancients praised it in poems: ‘Without thick clouds decorating, there is a rumbling sound like thunder. Who would know that inside the Canglong Gorge, the water is surging.’ There are several stone carvings from the Ming Dynasty and previous dynasties in the gorge, such as Deep in the Peach Garden, Waiting for the Moon, Drunken Old Man, Winding Cloud Stone, etc. Celebrities of all ages have traveled here. With broad-mindedness, they wielded their brushes and left many eternal beautiful lines. In recent years, in order to better develop Canglong Gorge, antique gates with carved beams and painted pillars and magnificent momentum have been successively built, as well as stone archways with nine dragons coiling around pillars, stone pavilions, and wooden pavilions. There are high and low double bridges shaped like rainbows. The patterns on the railing boards show two dragons playing with a pearl, vividly. The layers of steps are like ladders.
Open all year round and open all day.
