Cao’e Temple, originally constructed during the Eastern Han Dynasty, has withstood the test of time, enduring periods of decay and prosperity, and has been reconstructed and expanded multiple times to achieve its current scale. The temple complex primarily consists of the mountain gate, main hall, rear hall, Cao’e’s tomb, wine-drinking pavilion, earth and grain temple, Shen’s temple, Dongyue Hall, King Yan’s Hall, and the stage, covering an area of over 7000 square meters. Its grandeur and magnificent splendor, along with numerous sculptures and plaques inscribed by celebrities, have earned it worldwide fame. It is honored as the ‘Number One Temple in the South of the Yangtze River’.
Out of remembrance and commemoration for Cao’e’s filial piety, people from various regions spontaneously gather at Cao’e Temple on the anniversary of her act of saving her father by jumping into the river.
