Caoxi Hot Spring is located at the foot of Shuangfeng Mountain in Qujiang County, Shaoguan. During the Tang Dynasty, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen, Huineng, presided over the Caoxi Baolin Temple here, making Caoxi revered as the ancestral court of Zen. The hot spring resources have been developed and utilized. The current hot spring park boasts 103 thermal mineral pools, with a distinctive feature being the hundreds of wind chimes that flutter with the wind throughout the park, allowing visitors to enjoy the pleasant chime sounds while soaking.
Caoxi Hot Spring continues to expand based on its hot spring resources, with the spring water continuously flowing without pause. It is said that the Sixth Patriarch Huineng bathed in Caoxi and, in one night, suddenly realized Buddhist truths. As a result, the water of Caoxi has become a sacred water for thousands of years. Even today, the hot springs are still filled with clear mineral water, cleansing people’s profound souls amidst the crisp sound of wind chimes.
