The Catholic Church on General’s Temple Street was initially built in the seventh year of the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The priest Gabriel from the Beijing Diocese came to Jinan and purchased more than 13 mu of land on General’s Temple Street inside the west gate. He presided over the construction of a Catholic church. The church is built in the traditional Chinese architectural form and combines the characteristics of Jinan’s residential houses. The stone walls reach the top, with a curved roof and small grey tiles covering. The form is simple, and only some Baroque features are retained in parts such as doors and windows.
