Karen Webb Gallery is delighted to announce the upcoming exhibition ‘The Flavor of Fable’, which is the focal event of our 25th anniversary celebration. This milestone not only signifies a quarter century of showcasing innovative art but also highlights our commitment to fostering meaningful dialogues between local and international communities.
The ‘Flavor of Fable’ invites visitors to explore how food traditions, rituals, and symbols are influenced by mythological beliefs and narrative storytelling. From the ritualistic and celebratory use of specific ingredients to the superstitions and stories passed down through generations, food forms an essential thread that runs through our collective imagination. The exhibition highlights the deep connection between food and the mysterious through a diverse range of artworks, revealing how these connections impact our lived experiences. Visitors will gain a deeper understanding that food is not only a source of nourishment but also reflects cultural identity and shared narratives. Liu Hanglin’s mezzotint series themed around cakes demonstrates his ability to imbue still life works with captivating drama and atmosphere, drawing on the tradition of offering sacrificial cakes to the gods in Greek mythology. Opening times are from November 9th to January 7th, open Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00-19:00. Performance times and durations are subject to the venue.Celebrating 25th Anniversary (1999-2024) in Hong Kong, China – ‘The Flavor of Fable’ Exhibition
