The Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts is located in the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It consists of three parts: the new museum building of the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the plaster exhibition hall, and the teaching exhibition hall. The new museum building is in the shape of a three-dimensional boomerang and is composed of three free and irregular curved surfaces.
The exhibition area is more than 6,000 square meters, covering exhibition display, collection restoration, academic research, and public education. The museum currently has about 13,000 collections, mainly including classic original works and copies of foreign oil painting masters, sculptures, calligraphy, and paintings from the Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties in China, representative works of famous modern and contemporary artists, and outstanding works of graduates of all previous sessions since the establishment of the academy. The sculptures in the plaster exhibition hall of the Central Academy of Fine Arts are mainly purchased from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy, and the Louvre Museum in France. There is also a part donated by His Royal Highness the Prince of Denmark and his wife. There are more than 40 exhibits in the exhibition hall, including the ‘Statue of Victory’ of ancient Greece, the ‘relief decoration board of the Parthenon Temple’, and the ‘Apollo statue in the Belvedere’. The teaching exhibition hall has an area of about 800 square meters and is located on the first basement floor of Building 5 of the academy. It mainly holds various exhibition activities within the academy. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year from 09:30 to 17:00; Closed all day on Monday throughout the year.
