Chao Shan’s plum blossoms are renowned worldwide for their ‘ancient, vast, and peculiar’ characteristics. Every early spring in February, the buds burst into bloom, with white flowers spreading like jade, covering an area of ten miles around, reflecting the whiteness of the sky from afar, resembling flying snow filling the air, and petals scattered chaotically, creating a spectacular scene. During its heyday, the vast expanse of plum blossoms spanned ten miles, earning the title ‘Ten Miles of Fragrant Plum Blossom Snow Sea’. Among China’s five ancient plum trees from the Jin, Sui, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties, Chao Shan is home to two of them – the Tang plum and Song plum. Presently, there are still tens of thousands of plum trees with over ten varieties, including Bone Red, Pink Butterfly, Red Plum, and Green Plum. The site is open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening conditions.
