The Chaoyin Pavilion stands on the eastern coast of Wu Yuan Town, with its back to the bustling city and facing the surging Hangzhou Bay. This newly constructed pavilion offers a leisure spot for both the citizens of Haiyan and tourists.
The pavilion is a three-story ancient-style building with a simple and elegant design, featuring a golden roof and exquisite corners. It is 19 meters tall, with each floor measuring 12 meters in both width and depth. There are railings on all four sides of each floor. Ascending to the top, one can look far into the distance and take in the surrounding scenery. To the east, one can see the vast ocean, distant sails, undulating mountains, flying seagulls, and hear the roaring tide, all within reach of one’s ears. To the south, one can gaze upon China’s first nuclear power plant – the Qinshan Nuclear Power Station. To the west, the city’s twinkling lights are clearly visible at night. To the north, on a clear day, the Zhepu Port is distinctly visible.
Listening to the Tide at Chaoyin Pavilion: The tides of Haiyan County, due to geographical reasons, are not as spectacular as those of Haining’s ‘one-line tide’. However, during the rising tide, the waves undulate and slowly advance, producing a pleasant sound that is indescribable. It is reminiscent of the music played on the bianzhong bells during the Warring States period, or like the sound of a guqin playing the melody of ‘High Mountains and Running Rivers’. The more one listens, the more fascinating it becomes. This is truly the voice of nature. This is what it means to listen to the tide at Chaoyin Pavilion. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
