Yunguang Cave is located on a flat ground in front of Longjingding in Chashan Scenic Area. The scenery here is very secluded. There is a clear brook on the west side. The gurgling water flows all year round. It is backed by jagged rocks and pine and cypress on the north, adjacent to a deep ravine on the east, and facing the vast sea on the south. There are eight treasures at Yunguang Cave: ginkgo tree, wisteria, saltwater cave, Longquan well, Immortal Bridge, stone-carved tomb, itchy tree, and Bodhisattva Temple. It is also called Babao Yunguang Cave. The Taoist-oriented novel Investiture of the Gods has made detailed and vivid descriptions of Yunguang Cave. According to historical records, during the Dading period of the Jin Dynasty, after Yu Yang became a disciple of Wang Chongyang, he came to Yunguang Cave to study Quanzhen Taoism and founded the Kunshan School of Quanzhen Taoism. The famous Yunguang Collection was written in Yunguang Cave. Although it has been a long time, the three characters ‘Yunguang Cave’ engraved on the rock in front of Yunguang Cave are still very clear. Therefore, Yunguang Cave is the birthplace of the Kunshan School of Quanzhen Taoism. Visiting Yunguang Cave has important practical significance for understanding the history of Chinese Taoism.
