The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall was built in 1888, the fourteenth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. It is a relatively complete and representative late Qing folk building preserved in Guangdong area. You can see very distinctive sculptures. In addition, you can also see some art exhibitions and photo exhibitions. Experience literature and art in an old house. When the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall was first built, it provided accommodation for scholars from all over the clan to go to Guangzhou to take imperial examinations.
It has an ancient architectural style, full of Guangzhou charm and Lingnan characteristics. Due to its complete preservation, those who are interested in ancient architecture and history must go and have a look. If you are not interested in these, you can also go and see the quiet old house. Enter the ancestral hall from the entrance and visit in a broken line. The viewing order is as follows: main hall (double-sided hollowed-out woodcarving large screen door) – platform (stone carved railings, iron-cast openwork railing panels) – Juxian Hall in the middle (periodic special exhibitions) – middle hall in the back (photo exhibition of Chen’s Academy in a hundred years) – back east study (resplendent – Guangdong embroidery art exhibition) – front east wing (old Guangzhou home exhibition). Mainly view the characteristic sculptures of the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. Traditional architectural decorations such as wood carvings, stone carvings, brick carvings, pottery sculptures, lime sculptures and iron-casting crafts can be seen everywhere in the halls, corridors, courtyards, doors, windows, railings, ridges, brick walls, beams and shrines of the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. Their shapes are vivid and colors are rich. In addition to sculptures, painted decorations should not be missed. Thousands of painted decorations have no identical style, and no two are the same.
