Chen Li Ji Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum is a distinctive museum in Guangzhou, established by a time-honored brand in the traditional Chinese medicine industry. The museum is renowned for its unique displays, which primarily consist of scene restorations that reflect the traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing process. By showcasing the history and development of the pharmaceutical factory, it mirrors the evolution of Chinese medicine.
Utilizing sound, light, and electricity, along with numerous artifacts and lifelike character models, the museum recreates many traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing processes that have been lost to time. A particularly notable feature is the wax shell packaging technique invented by Chen Li Ji. The museum exhibits the eight manual operations of this technique, including boiling wax, melting wax, stringing atoms, dipping in wax, inserting pills, sealing, trimming, and stamping. This wax shell packaging technology, invented to adapt to the humid southern climate, sparked a trend in traditional Chinese medicine packaging in other pharmaceutical centers such as Beijing and Hangzhou, and has been widely applied in the national pharmaceutical industry to this day. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:30; closed on Mondays. During winter and summer vacations, the museum is open from 09:00 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 17:00.
