Chengqi Tower is located in Gaobei Village, Gaotou Township, Yongding County. It is said to have been founded during the Chongzhen years of the Ming Dynasty and completed during the Kangxi years of the Qing Dynasty, taking half a century to build.
This tower appeared on the ‘Chinese Folk Houses’ stamp issued in 1986, representing the folk houses of Fujian. It is described as ‘four stories high, four rings of buildings, with four hundred rooms up and down; a circle within a circle, nested rings, enduring the vicissitudes of life for three hundred years’.
