Chengshantou is located in Longxu Island Town, Rongcheng, Weihai, and is named after its location at the eastern end of the Chengshan Mountain Range. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides and connected to the land on one side, facing Korea across the sea, marking the easternmost point of China’s coastline. This is also the place in the Jiaodong Peninsula where one can witness the sunrise over the sea. The mountains here are extremely steep, showcasing clusters of peaks and lush greenery. Below the cliffs, the waves are turbulent with strong currents and large waves, creating a grand spectacle. Since ancient times, this place has been an ideal summer retreat.

Among the attractions within the scenic area, the most notable is the stone tablet by the sea inscribed with ‘The End of Heaven’. In earlier years, the tablet bore the words ‘The End of the World’, but it was later renamed due to the negative connotation. Upon entering Chengshantou Park, on a small hill nearby, there is a small temple known as the Qin Emperor’s Temple. It is said that Emperor Qin Shi Huang visited this place twice because it is a place to see the sunrise over the sea, making it the only ‘Qin Emperor’s Temple’ in the country. The temple complex includes the Front Hall dedicated to the Sun God, the Main Hall dedicated to the Qin Emperor, the Eastern Hall dedicated to the Eastern Empress, Deng Gong Temple, Bell Tower, and Opera Stage. Among them, Deng Gong Temple was built in memory of the famous general Deng Shichang who sacrificed himself in the Battle of Jiawu.

After visiting the Qin Emperor’s Temple, walking about 10 minutes along the shaded path in the park leads you to the inscription of ‘The End of Heaven’. The first thing that catches your eye is several tall stone pillars, next to the Sea-Viewing Corridor. Standing on the Sea-Viewing Corridor, you can see the boundless and magnificent sea. With the gentle sea breeze and splashing waves, the vast ocean is like a dynamic painting. There are also various reefs and rocks such as the General Stone and the Small Stone Forest, offering a panoramic view. In addition, beside the Sea-Viewing Corridor, there are bronze statues of Qin Shi Huang, Li Si, and Xu Fu. The stone tablet inscribed with ‘The End of Heaven’ stands at the end of a stone ridge that extends into the sea, on a large stone nearly three meters high, with gold leaf characters that, together with the setting sun’s rays, appear to glow. There are railings on both sides of the stone ridge leading to the tablet and on the platform of the tablet, allowing visitors to take photos and gaze out over the East China Sea.

Furthermore, the park also features other attractions such as the Qin Dynasty stone inscriptions, the remains of the Qin Bridge, the Sea-Viewing Pavilion, the Wave-Viewing Tower, and some man-made attractions that can be visited together. Opening hours are from 08:00 to 16:30 all year round.
