The Buddha Light Rock Scenic Area, known as the ‘First Garden of Danxia’ and ‘A Unique Scenery of Chi’, features the main attractions of the ‘Danxia Cliffs, Wonders of the World’ Da Baiyan and the ‘Nature’s Art, Divine Craftsmanship’ Wu Zhu Peak. The area boasts more than 30 stunning landscapes and wonders, including Danxia landforms, peculiar peaks, cliffs, caves, Wu Zhu Peak, White Dragon Waterfall, Danxia Castles, and Camellia Forests. It is composed of five major scenic sections: Xiaojin Post Station Gully, Utopia Valley, Sun Valley, Ploughshare Gully, and Leopard Gully, covering an area of 20 square kilometers. The area combines the six characteristics of novelty, novelty, danger, elegance, tranquility, and wildness, making it an important part of the Chishui National Key Scenic Area and a rare high-quality natural ecological tourism scenic spot.
The exposed strata of the Buddha Light Rock Scenic Area are all Jurassic and Cretaceous fluvial and lacustrine red sedimentary rocks. Under the combined effects of differential weathering, gravity collapse, and erosion by wind and rain, this special landform has created countless peculiar Danxia landform landscapes, such as pagoda-shaped, castle-shaped, needle-shaped, pillar-shaped, stick-shaped, square mountain-shaped, and peak forest-shaped. The red cliffs, peculiar peaks, and cliff outlines are ubiquitous and countless, presenting a bright red color on the earth and mountain cliffs. Therefore, the Buddha Light Rock Scenic Area is hailed as one of the outstandingly developed, exposed, and characteristically typical Danxia landform scenic areas of the Jurassic and Cretaceous in Chishui and even China. The Danxia landform environment of the scenic area retains a lot of moisture, and the climate conditions are complex and diverse. There are well-developed sinkholes and springs, large stream drops, and many waterfalls; the plant groups are as many as more than 2000, with more than 20 rare plants, lush plant growth, and forest coverage reaching more than 95%; there are more than 400 kinds of wild animals, more than 10 rare animals, diverse populations, rapid reproduction, and a large number, with a complete natural ecosystem. Local proverbs such as ‘one mountain has four seasons, ten miles different weather’, ‘peach blossoms at the foot of the mountain, snow on the mountain’, ‘monkey forest, wild boar nest’, etc., just become a true portrayal of the natural ecology of the scenic area.
