The China Canal Culture Museum is located on the north bank of Dongchang Lake in Liaocheng. The museum’s overall exhibition is themed around ‘Canals Promote History, Canals Change Life’, showcasing the achievements of China’s collection, protection, and research of canal culture through numerous ancient artifacts and graphic materials. This allows visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the ancient history, natural scenery, and folk customs of the canals.
The Canal Culture Museum spans five floors, including four above ground and one underground. In addition to the lobby, the exhibition area is divided into ten halls. The second floor features three halls dedicated to ‘Canal Culture Exhibition’, while the third floor houses three halls for ‘Liaocheng Historical Artifacts Exhibition’. There are also three functional areas for research and academic exchanges.
Opening hours are from 09:00 to 17:00, Tuesday through Sunday, all year round. The museum is closed all day on Mondays. It is open from 09:00 to 17:00 on Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day.
Mandatory tips:
1. Individuals who are intoxicated, improperly dressed, or have no or limited behavioral capacity without the accompaniment of a guardian are not allowed to enter the museum.
2. Please consciously accept security checks upon entry to ensure your personal safety and the safety of the museum’s artifacts.
3. Prohibited items such as controlled weapons, lighters, and other flammable and explosive materials, as well as pets, are not allowed in the venue. Please handle them in advance.
4. Please store your bags and luggage at the designated storage area and do not bring them into the exhibition halls. Valuables should be kept with you at all times.
5. Please adhere to the visiting order and maintain a quiet environment to avoid disturbing other visitors. Please set your mobile phones to silent mode.
6. Do not touch artifacts and exhibits. Photography, tripods, and flash are not allowed in the exhibition halls.
7. Smoking is prohibited inside the venue. Please maintain environmental hygiene and do not litter.
8. Running, chasing, climbing, or lying down inside the venue is not allowed. Please take care of the elderly and children.
