The Customs Museum is located on Jianguomennei Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. Through more than 1,800 collections, the museum systematically shows the audience the development process of China’s customs from ancient times to the present. Particularly special in the exhibition area is the ‘Customs 902’ boat. The museum displays it on the basement floor alone. It is a ‘heroic boat’. Many exhibits in the museum are of high value.

The ‘China Lighthouse Map’ drawn in 1894 indicates the distribution of lighthouses in China’s coastal areas and is the only extant copy in the country. In addition, the exhibits also include precious cultural relics such as bronze swords from the Warring States Period, a standing statue of Guanyin in the Song Dynasty, Confuciusornis fossils, ivory handicrafts, snow leopard specimens, and Manchurian tiger skins.

Moreover, the Customs Museum also publicly exposes in detail the smuggling methods in various periods. For example, in the 1980s, smugglers hid watches in coconuts before they were ripe, which is astonishing.
