China Garden Museum

The China Garden Museum is located within the Garden Expo Park and is a museum themed around gardens. Covering an area of 65,000 square meters, the museum is divided into three parts: the main building, indoor exhibition gardens, and outdoor exhibition areas. Upon entering the museum, the first thing visitors see is the panoramic sculpture of the Old Summer Palace facing them. To the left is the Ancient Chinese Gardens Hall, opposite of which is the Suzhou Chang Garden.

To the left of Chang Garden is the Modern Chinese Gardens Hall, followed by the Lingnan Yuyin Mountain House and the World Famous Gardens Exhibition Hall. On the right side of the museum, there are two exhibition halls, with a multifunctional hall and the Four Seasons Hall behind them. The second floor houses the Yangzhou Piesishi Mountain House, the Garden Interactive Experience Hall, the Chinese Gardening Skills Hall, the Chinese Garden Culture Hall, and the 3rd and 4th temporary exhibition halls.

The outdoor exhibition areas are divided into the Northern Water Garden – Tower Shadow Courtyard, the Northern Flat Garden – Half Mu Xuan Xie, and the Northern Mountain Garden – Dye Xia Mountain House. Tower Shadow Courtyard uses Ying Mountain as a backdrop, combining artificial water systems, architecture, and plants to form a Northern water garden, with the distant Yongding Tower reflected in the water, creating an interesting reflection.

Half Mu Xuan Xie is a partial reconstruction of the representative Northern private garden Half Mu Garden from the original inner city Gongxian Hutong (now Huangmi Hutong). Dye Xia Mountain House combines the terrain, landforms, and plant conditions of the eastern slope of Ying Mountain to build a Northern mountain garden, which is particularly magnificent under the sunset. The museum has launched a digital museum, allowing visitors to roam the China Garden Museum in a 3D panoramic view with just a click of the mouse.
