The China Hakka Museum is one of the largest Hakka museums in China, comprising a main hall and three branch halls: the main hall, Huang Zunxian Memorial Hall, Meizhou University President Hall, and Meizhou Generals Hall. The museum exhibits the origins, customs, dwellings, culture, and spirit of the Hakka people through five sections: ‘Where Do the Guests Come From’, ‘Hakka Customs’, ‘Cultural Elites’, and ‘Hakka Takeoff’. It showcases the Hakka culture to visitors.
Opening hours vary: from January 1st to June 30th, closed all day on Mondays; from September 1st to December 31st, closed all day on Mondays; from January 1st to June 30th, open from 9:00 to 17:00 on Tuesdays to Fridays; from September 1st to December 31st, open from 9:00 to 17:00 on Tuesdays to Fridays; from January 1st to June 30th, open from 9:00 to 17:30 on Saturdays and Sundays; from September 1st to December 31st, open from 9:00 to 17:30 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Service facilities include luggage storage: there is a free luggage storage area for items, please store large items, keep valuables with you, and retrieve items with a voucher. Guided tours are available at scheduled times: the main hall at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM; Huang Zunxian Memorial Hall at 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM. For tours at other times, please book in advance by phone. Visitors are required to make a real-name reservation through the official WeChat public account of the museum, selecting the date and time for their visit. Unreserved visitors may make an on-site reservation by scanning the QR code if the reservation limit for the time slot has not been reached. The reservation code is valid only during the reserved time slot and becomes void after expiration. The maximum number of visitors allowed is 350, with the instantaneous maximum capacity not exceeding 50 people. Each person is limited to bringing one child under 1.4 meters tall who has also made a reservation. Visitors with reservations are requested to enter the museum according to their scheduled date and time; latecomers will be denied entry.
