The China Marine Fisheries Museum is located in Dongsha Ancient Town, which is famous as the ‘hometown of large yellow croaker’. It is a two-story courtyard wooden structure building constructed in the first half of the 20th century. It is a historical book on the development of China’s fishery industry and an ocean biological museum on land. In the first phase, nearly 1,000 items including various ship tools, ship models, fishing nets, daily utensils, fishermen’s clothing, fishing aids and navigation equipment, and fishermen’s paintings from the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty to the present are on display. The second phase of exhibition layout work presents a new look to the audience. There are four exhibitions: marine resources, marine fishing, shell expo, old production relations and fishermen’s living customs, with a total of more than 1,600 exhibits. The first is the exhibition of marine resources, the second is the exhibition of marine fishing, the third is the shell expo, and the fourth is the exhibition of old production relations and fishermen’s unique living customs and traditions.
