China Merchants Wharf is situated on the eastern side of Hong Kong Island, featuring the docks and warehouses of China Merchants Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the China Merchants Group. The wharf is capable of handling vessels up to 10,000 tons, including inland waterway vessels, barges, and other types of ships.
The logo at the entrance of China Merchants Wharf appears to be identical to that of China Merchants Bank, suggesting a shared history as part of the same conglomerate. As early as 2016, the Planning Department had rezoned the area of China Merchants Wharf and its cargo space from industrial use to ‘commercial, leisure, and recreational facilities use’. The wharf is open to the public all year round, with access available 24 hours a day.China Merchants Wharf
