China Militia Arms and Equipment Exhibition Hall

The China Militia Arms and Equipment Exhibition Hall is located at the source of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Tongzhou District, Beijing. It covers an area of more than 100,000 square meters and has a construction area of more than 12,000 square meters. It was completed in October 1998 and officially opened to the public. In the same year, it was named ‘Beijing National Defense Education Base’ by the Beijing Municipal People’s Government.


The museum consists of 14 parts including the Weapon Expo Center, the People’s War History Museum, the simulated shooting range, the national defense education base, the orthopedic cold therapy characteristic hospital and environmental art. The museum collects more than 10,000 cultural relics in total, including more than 5,000 various weapons such as guns, swords and knives from 23 countries. There are pen pistols more than ten centimeters long and craft pistols engraved and gilded; there are firearms from various countries with a long history and very few in existence that have gone through World War I and World War II.


There is also the existing Japanese 300-millimeter howitzer with a relatively large caliber in Asia weighing nearly 100 tons and the Japanese royal samurai sword more than 500 years ago. The large number and variety of exhibits can be called a grand spectacle of weapon exhibitions in the world. The main museum building with the Great Wall battlements embedded on the top, the mountain artillery positions constructed by fortifications, various simulated weapon systems, and various live ammunition shooting places for multiple weapons.


There are also fish ponds with rippling blue waves and lush lawns full of vitality. It is a good place for weapon enthusiasts to learn, study and appreciate various weapons and an ideal place for national defense education.
