China Nuocheng

China Nuocheng is the Nuo opera cultural research center awarded by the Chinese Nuo Opera Society. It is currently the world’s relatively large ancient city of Nuo culture. Its overall layout conforms to the principle of the generation of the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, and integrates auspicious elements of fortune, emolument, longevity, happiness, and wealth. While inheriting and carrying forward the original culture, it endows it with new characteristics of the times.

Through scientific planning and meticulous construction, it centrally showcases the essence of Nuo culture. The intangible cultural heritage – Nuo opera is known as the ‘living fossil of human civilization’ and is a sacrificial ceremony in the totem worship period of ancient times. Nuo opera, Nuo sacrifice, and Nuo dance carry the beautiful vision of the Gelao people to pray for blessings and good fortune.

Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00.
