The China Port Museum is a comprehensive cultural institution that combines exhibition, education, collection, scientific research, tourism, and international exchange. It is dedicated to showcasing the rich history of Chinese ports and their artifacts through physical objects, models, and audio-visual technology, thereby popularizing port culture and technology.
The museum is home to a total of seven exhibition halls, each with a unique theme. These themes include port history, modern port knowledge, Beilun historical sites, underwater archaeology, port science, and mathematical oceanography. The ‘Digital Ocean Experience Hall’ is a special attraction where visitors can immerse themselves in the charm of the ocean through virtual technology.
The museum’s operating hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00, all year round. It remains closed all day on Mondays. During the summer vacation period, which spans from July 10th to August 31st, the entry time is extended to 16:30, and the opening hours on Saturdays and Sundays are extended to 18:00, with the last entry at 17:00.
In terms of service facilities, the museum offers luggage storage at no cost. Guided tours are also available, with two free guided tours arranged daily—one at 9:30 AM and another at 2:00 PM. For visiting groups requiring guided tour services, a reservation must be made one day in advance. After confirming the reservation, the group should organize the visit according to the scheduled time; failure to do so will result in cancellation. Additionally, a guide service fee is charged for visitors who voluntarily request specialized guided services. The fee structure is as follows: Guided tours of Hall 1 and Hall 5, lasting 1 to 1.The museum offers two types of guided tours:
1. Half-day tour: This tour covers Halls 1, 2, 4, and 5, and lasts for 5 hours. The guide fee is 50 yuan per session. To ensure the quality of the visit, the maximum group size is limited to 50 people.
2. Full tour: This tour includes Halls 1, 2, 4, and 5, as well as temporary exhibitions, and lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. The guide fee is 100 yuan per session, with a maximum group size of 50 people to maintain the quality of the visit.
Audio guide rental services are also available in four languages: Mandarin, English, Japanese, and Korean. Visitors can rent these devices at the service desk by providing their ID and a deposit of 100 yuan, which will be refunded upon return of the device. The rental fees are as follows:
– Headset-style audio guide: 10 yuan per session
– Handheld smart audio guide: 20 yuan per session
Catering facilities include a tea restaurant with a comfortable and leisurely environment, offering high-quality coffee, tea, and simple, exquisite food. Additionally, vending machines for drinks are available within the museum. Please follow the operating instructions when purchasing drinks and refrain from consuming them inside the exhibition halls. The tea restaurant and vending machines are located in the outdoor landscape corridor area.
For souvenirs, the museum features a shop offering a rich variety of distinctive and meaningful cultural souvenirs, books, and art pieces. These items can be purchased as mementos from your visit. The souvenir shop is located in Museum Area A Service Hall.
