The China Port Museum is a multifunctional institution that integrates exhibition, education, collection, scientific research, tourism, and international exchange. It showcases the history of Chinese ports and port artifacts through physical objects, models, and audio-visual technology, popularizing port culture and technology.
The museum consists of seven exhibition halls, each themed around port history, modern port knowledge, Beilun historical sites, underwater archaeology, port science, and mathematical oceanography. In the latter exhibition hall, the ‘Digital Ocean Experience Hall’, visitors can experience the charm of the ocean through virtual technology.
Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00 all year round; the museum is closed all day on Mondays. During the summer vacation period (from July 10th to August 31st), the entry time is postponed to 16:30, and the opening hours on Saturdays and Sundays are extended to 18:00 (last entry at 17:00).
Service facilities include luggage storage: reference price – free. Guided tours: 1. The museum arranges two free guided tours daily, one at 9:30 AM and another at 2:00 PM. 2. Guided tour services for visiting groups require a reservation one day in advance. After confirming the reservation, please organize the visit according to the scheduled time; no-show will result in cancellation. 3. A guide service fee is charged for visitors who voluntarily request specialized guided services, with the following standards: 1) Guided tours of Hall 1 and Hall 5, lasting 1 to 1.5 hours. Guide fee is 50 yuan per session, with a maximum of 50 people per group to ensure the quality of the visit. 2) Full tour (including Halls 1, 2, 4, 5, and temporary exhibitions), lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. Guide fee is 100 yuan per session, with a maximum of 50 people per group to ensure the quality of the visit.
Audio guide rental: The museum provides audio guide machines for smart guided tour services, with four languages available (Mandarin, English, Japanese, Korean). Visitors can rent the devices with their ID at the service desk, with a deposit of 100 yuan, which will be refunded upon return of the audio guide. Rental fees are 10 yuan per session for earhook-style audio guides and 20 yuan per session for handheld smart audio guides.
Catering: The museum has a tea restaurant with a comfortable and leisurely environment, offering high-quality coffee, tea, and simple, exquisite food. Additionally, there are vending machines for drinks in the museum; please follow the instructions to purchase drinks. Please do not consume drinks inside the exhibition halls.
