The China Zitan Museum Hengqin Branch is located at the heart of Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, Guangdong, and it is a branch of the China Zitan Museum established outside the capital city. The branch covers an area of over 12,000 square meters and is a typical imitation of Ming and Qing classical architecture, with a grand and imposing appearance. The museum features a central hall, exhibition halls, VIP rooms, multifunctional rooms, and integrates multiple functions such as art display, cultural exchange, and creative experience. The opening exhibition, ‘The Radiance of the Forbidden City – Special Exhibition of Court Furniture from the Palace Museum’, is jointly organized by the Palace Museum, Zhuhai Hengqin New District Management Committee, and China Zitan Museum. It sets several historical records for its scale and significance, allowing the public in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to appreciate the beauty of court furniture art up close, enhancing their interest and understanding of court culture, and sparking deep reflection on the aesthetics of traditional Chinese craftsmanship. On the first floor, the museum displays a collection of fine Ming and Qing zitan furniture pieces, large-scale architectural models of old Beijing city gates, and Buddhist cultural artifacts, curated and guided by Chen Lihua, the museum director. The complementary mortise and tenon structures, exquisite carvings, and textures reflect the unchanging cultural heritage of the nation and convey a strong oriental charm. Opening hours are all year round, Wednesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00; Monday and Tuesday are closed; and on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, the museum is open from 09:00 to 17:00. Preferential policies for children: Children aged 6 (including 6) or under 1.2 meters (including 1.2 meters) in height can enter for free with adult accompaniment. Half-price ticket policy applies to students with student IDs, military personnel with military IDs, people over 60 years old with ID cards or senior citizen cards, and people with disabilities with disability certificates.
