Among the four famous beauties in ancient China, Xi Shi ranks first and has long become a symbol of beauty. Starting from Xi Shi and extending to the four famous beauties, and then to famous ladies throughout Chinese history, to fully display the true, good, and beautiful qualities of women is precisely the original intention of building the ‘China’s Famous Ladies Through the Ages Museum’ in Xi Shi’s hometown. The China’s Famous Ladies Through the Ages Museum is a courtyard-style antique building with Jiangnan characteristics. It is located in the entrance area of the Xi Shi’s Hometown tourist area and is currently a rare exhibition hall in China with the theme of famous Chinese women throughout history. The exhibition hall aims to showcase the true, good, and beautiful qualities of women. A total of more than 100 ancient Chinese female figures are selected and divided into seven units according to their characteristics: the four famous beauties, legendary goddesses, famous women in history, talented and gentle ladies, heroic women, four folk tales, and the Gallery of a Hundred Beauties. Among them, the four famous beauties are the core of the entire exhibition hall. In addition, the museum also features static landscapes such as the brick relief screen wall of ‘The Story of Washing Gauze’ and courtyard sketches of the twelve flower goddesses, as well as dynamic display projects such as chime-bell music and dance.
