Danxia landform refers to the isolated peaks and steep, peculiar rocks formed from red sandstone after long-term weathering and erosion. It is a collective term for various Danxia peaks that develop along vertical joints in thick layers of red sand and conglomerate rocks. This type of landform is primarily found in horizontal or gently inclined red rock strata from the Jurassic to the Tertiary periods, with Danxia Mountain in northern Guangdong being a typical example, hence the name.
Opening times are year-round, with full-day access to the Chishui Danxia tourist area. The opening times for smaller attractions within the tourism area vary and can be inquired about via telephone.
