The Chiyou Mausoleum scenic area is located in Shiwuliyuan Town, Yanggu County, and is the site of the tomb of Chiyou, the cultural ancestor and leader of the Jiuli tribe. It is a cultural sanctuary for people of all ethnic groups across the country to trace their roots and pay homage to Chiyou. The scenic area covers an area of 206 acres and is divided into three parts: the sacrificial area, the mausoleum area, and the cultural exhibition area.
The sacrificial area includes the mausoleum gate, Chiyou statue sculpture, sacrificial square, sacrificial platform, and Chiyou Hall. The mausoleum area features the maple forest area, Chiyou pavilion, Chiyou tomb, and watchtower. The exhibition area mainly consists of the Dongyi Culture Exhibition Hall and the Agricultural Culture Exhibition Hall.
Chiyou was the leader of the Jiuli tribe in the lower reaches of the Yellow River. He invented copper smelting and used copper to make weapons and agricultural tools; observed celestial phenomena to create calendars, promoted the cultivation of grains, and valued agriculture; established laws and regulations, and created various arts to prosper the nation. Chiyou’s tribe was very powerful, winning nine battles in a row, but was eventually defeated by the alliance of the Yan Emperor and the Yellow Emperor in the Battle of Zhuolu.
Opening hours are from 08:30 to 17:00 all year round. Preferential policies: Children: children aged 6 years (inclusive) or under 1.4 meters (inclusive) in height are free; Elderly: people aged 60 years (inclusive) or older with valid identification are free; Military: active military personnel and retired military personnel with valid identification are free; Disabled: people with disabilities (including one accompanying person for severely disabled individuals) with valid identification are free; Children/Students: minors aged 6 years (exclusive) to 18 years (inclusive) and full-time undergraduate students and below with valid identification are half price.
