Chongqing 501 Art Base, initiated by Chongqing State-owned Cultural Assets Management Co., Ltd. and entrusted to Hua Ge Company for brand management, is a special fund-supported project in Chongqing’s cultural industry. With over 60 artists in residence, it was officially unveiled in October 2006 and is fully open to the public.
Attracting artists with preferential policies, more than 70 young and middle-aged artists from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute have established studios at Chongqing’s 501 Art Base, covering various art categories such as oil painting, Chinese painting, sculpture, and fashion design. It also houses a non-profit contemporary art museum and an art salon.

Recognized as the ‘Chongqing Creative Industry Base’, the 501 Art Base has been increasingly influential in Chongqing and nationwide. Artists and art institutions from countries like the UK, Canada, Sweden, and Singapore have visited for research and exchange. Foreign artists have also stayed at the base to create art and hold exhibitions.

The opening of artist studios, art bars, and other spaces has showcased the 501 Art Base as an international ‘SoHo-style art district’. Here, the organic integration of contemporary art with historical context and urban living environment has transformed ‘501’ into a vibrant new model of Chinese contemporary art and life, attracting professionals and the general public like never before.

Open all day from January 1st to December 31st.
