Chongqing Art Museum was established on the basis of the former Chongqing Painting Institute (Chongqing National Painting Institute) and is a public welfare cultural institution, directly affiliated with the Chongqing Municipal Culture Commission. It was completed and opened to the public for free in October 2013. The museum, which includes Chongqing Painting Institute and Chongqing National Painting Institute, has a construction area of 8,200 square meters and features four exhibition halls with approximately 1,000 meters of exhibition lines.
It houses various departments such as the Party and Government Office, Exhibition Department, Collection Department, Research Department, Creation Department, Public Education and Promotion Department, and Logistics and Security Department. The museum is responsible for the display and arrangement of art works, collection and solicitation, guidance on the creation and promotion of art works, conducting art theoretical research and international exchanges, and providing art training services.
