The Chongqing Three Gorges Immigrant Memorial Hall is located in the Citizen Square of Jiangnan New District, Wanzhou. It is close to Binjiang Park and faces the old city of Wanzhou across the river. The construction land covers 50 mu, and the main building has a floor area of 14,000 square meters. The exhibition hall area is 7,000 square meters. It is divided into several major functional areas such as the exhibition hall, the cultural relics center warehouse, the academic lecture hall, the cultural relics restoration center and the data research room, the comprehensive service area, and the administrative office area.
The Three Gorges Immigrant Memorial Hall constructs a collective memory space for Three Gorges immigrants through forms such as words, sounds, images, items, sculptures, and art installations, completely recording the history of the Three Gorges Reservoir area. It is divided into three major sections: basic, special topic, and temporary exhibitions. The basic exhibition section takes the immigration and relocation process as the basic structure, which is specifically divided into six parts: origin, hometown, migration, them, new home, and spirit. Taking time as a clue, it allows the audience to experience the life and mental journey of Three Gorges immigrants, understand the solution process of the difficult problem of the Three Gorges large-scale immigration, and how the Three Gorges large-scale immigration drives the development of the Three Gorges area. The special topic exhibition section is divided into two exhibition halls: Thousand Years of Three Gorges and Three Gorges Art. Thousand Years of Three Gorges is divided into five special topics: geological Three Gorges, strategic pass, mysterious Three Gorges, Ba salt and salt, and city of thousands of merchants. It restores fragments of the landmark buildings or landscapes of the submerged towns in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, allowing the audience to intuitively understand the historical culture of the Three Gorges area. The installation art work of the Yangtze Three Gorges made of millions of immigrants’ signatures is one of the highlights. The Three Gorges Art section is divided into four special topics: poetic Three Gorges, picturesque Three Gorges, artistic Three Gorges, and video Three Gorges. It collects art works such as poetry, calligraphy, painting, graphic design, and installation art on the theme of the Three Gorges.The opening hours are from 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year; closed all day on Monday throughout the year.
