Chu Yang Tai is situated on Ge Ling of Bao Shi Mountain, where it is said that Ge Hong once practiced alchemy. The platform is broad and flat, making it an ideal location for enjoying sunrises. Particularly on the first day of the tenth lunar month each year, as the lake’s edge begins to reveal itself, the sky is soon filled with radiant light, and as the sun rises, the moon has not yet set, creating a spectacle of the sun and moon shining together. This phenomenon is known as the ‘Dawn of the East Sea’ or ‘Ge Ling Dawn’. The Chu Yang Tai that stands today was reconstructed in the 1980s. Adjacent to it are the Lai Feng Pavilion and the Bao Chu Pagoda. Bao Shi Mountain is a popular spot for local residents to climb and enjoy the view. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of West Lake, this is a great place to visit. The opening hours are subject to the daily operational status.
