The Chuansha Ancient City Wall is located in Chengxiang Primary School at No. 171 Xinchuan Road. Now it has become a small park independently. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. At present, only the southeast corner remains. There are buildings such as Kuixing Pavilion, Yuebei Pavilion, and Wenbi Tower (destroyed). Under the corner of the city is Guanlan Academy, which is now Chengxiang Town Primary School.
The city wall was once seriously damaged due to lack of protection. After being renovated, it has lost some of its primitive charm. Although it is a pity, the history precipitated here cannot be doubted. Nowadays, the ancient city wall is still more than 60 meters long. You can climb up along the bluestone steps and stroll inside the city wall with mottled tree shadows. In a quiet historical site, you can reminisce about the past and think about the present. The Chuansha Ancient City Wall was built by the people of Chuansha at that time to resist the invasion of Japanese pirates. With this city wall, the people of Chuansha successfully repelled many invasions by Japanese pirates. This city wall is evidence of the indomitable resistance of the Chinese nation against foreign aggression. The three-story pavilion with upturned eaves standing on the city wall, namely Kuixing Pavilion, is an old object of the renovated Wenchang Palace. Opposite Kuixing Pavilion is Yuebei Pavilion, which is also renovated. Inside the pavilion, there is a stone tablet with a rubbing of Yue Fei’s handwriting. This handwriting is a seven-character quatrain in which Yue Fei encourages his friends to cheer up and resist the enemy. Unfortunately, the handwriting is now blurred and difficult to distinguish. According to records, the old city had four gates in the east, south, west, and north. The east gate was Zhenhai Gate, the south gate was Yingrui Gate, the west gate was Taiping Gate, and the north gate was Gongji Gate. Each had a suspension bridge. The moat was 12 zhang wide and 1.5 zhang deep. There were four barbicans on the city wall, 372 battlements, and 12 forts, which were quite large-scale. After a hundred years of wind and rain erosion, the city wall has collapsed in many places and presents a dilapidated scene. Now that you can still see this section of the city wall, it can be called a place where historical sites in Chuansha City gather. The opening hours are from 06:00 to 18:00 from January 1st to September 15th; closed all day on Monday, September 16th; open from 06:00 to 18:00 from September 17th to December 31st.
