Chunyang Taoist Temple is located in the Suzhou Village at Shuangzhu Gang, on the southern side of Xin Gang West Road in Haizhu District. This area is characterized by Jurassic volcanic rock formations, with unique rock shapes, towering ancient trees, and a serene environment. Surrounding the temple, the environment is tranquil, with lush ancient trees and grotesque rocks. The layout of the temple’s pavilions, towers, and halls is well-organized, with winding paths leading to secluded spots, making it a popular tourist destination known as ‘Ancient Pines and Strange Rocks, a Picturesque Landscape’.

The location of Chunyang Taoist Temple is composed of three small hills: Shuangzhu Gang, Hulu Gang, and Feng Gang. All of these hills are ancient volcanic rocks that have been weathered and eroded over time, resulting in smooth and round ‘stone beads’, hence the name ‘Shuangzhu Gang’. This site has both natural and cultural landscapes, offering value for tourism as well as geological research. In modern times, many literati, calligraphers, painters, and poets from Guangzhou, such as Ju Lian, Ju Chao, Su Yunpeng, Gao Jianfu, and Gao Qifeng, often gathered here, leaving behind numerous calligraphic treasures and historical traces.

Chunyang Taoist Temple covers an area of 10,000 square meters, facing north to south, built against the mountain, with deep stone paths and many strange rocks and peculiar pines. The entire temple originally had 11 buildings including the mountain gate, Lingguan Hall, Main Hall,拜亭, east and west corridors, Buyun Pavilion, and east and west guest rooms, but now only the mountain gate, Lingguan Hall, Fang Hall, 拜事, Chaodou Terrace, Yang Fu Temple, Qingxian Temple, and Li Mingche’s tomb remain. It is open to the public all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
