Ci Ling Pavilion is located to the east of Chengyi Bo Temple, built in memory of Liu Jing, the second son of Liu Bowen. Liu Jing was once appointed as the Left Chief Historian of the Guo Wang Mansion. In the fourth year of the Jianwen era of the Ming Dynasty (1401), when Prince Zhu Di usurped the throne, Liu Jing was arrested and taken to the capital. It was the day before the Dragon Boat Festival, and the villagers celebrated the festival early to bid farewell to Liu Jing. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, Liu Jing tearfully bid farewell to the villagers at the pass between Huagai Mountain and Tian’er Mountain. After entering the capital, Liu Jing was martyred. The pavilion is built in the style of a city gate at the pass between Huagai Mountain and Tian’er Mountain, with a stone and wood structure, featuring a hip-roof double eaves style. Inside the pavilion, there is an interesting couplet: ‘The blood of loyalty is scattered in the west wind, where the cold is more intense at higher places, and I reluctantly leave my hometown with my head held high; alone, I throw myself into the northern snow, looking far into the distance, and alone, I leave my face to meet the former king.’ Next to the pavilion, there is an ancient pine tree, towering into the sky, known as the Pine of Loyalty. Passing through the city gate, it is steep and precipitous. This path was the route Liu Ji took when he left and returned to the mountains. The pavilion is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
