Cishou Temple, situated in Balizhuang outside the Fucheng Gate in Haidian District, Beijing, was constructed in the fourth year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty. The temple complex is home to the Cishou Pagoda, also referred to as Yong’an Wanshou Pagoda. This pagoda was built by Emperor Wanli in honor of his mother, the Empress Dowager Cisheng.

By the time of the Guangxu Emperor in the Qing Dynasty, the temple had fallen into disrepair, with only the solitary pagoda remaining amidst the ruins of the former monastery. The temple site, which is open to the public all year round, is accessible at all times.
