At the bend in the middle section of Xiangyun Road, there is a square giant rock standing by the roadside. The four characters ‘Buddhist Kingdom on the Sea and Sky’ on the rock surface are from the handwriting of Hou Jigao, a famous general against Japanese pirates in the Ming Dynasty. Later, it became a synonym for Mount Putuo. On this rock is stacked another stone, towering into the sea of clouds, dangerous and mysterious. There are three characters ‘Cloud-Supporting Stone’ engraved on the stone. There is a small pool on the stone, like a bowl or a alms bowl, receiving the dew from heaven. Open all year round and open all day.
