Couple Peak is a landmark landscape of Taimu Mountain. This peak is eroded by running water joints to form a gap. The two stone eggs at the top, one high and one low, look like a man carrying a woman. Due to different viewing angles, from below they seem to be hugging each other. When viewed from the mountain, they are in a carrying posture. There is a sad and lingering love story here. According to legend, in ancient times, there was a small fishing village at the foot of Taimu Mountain.
There was a handsome man and a beautiful woman. They had been childhood sweethearts and loved each other deeply. That autumn, the man went out to fish. The woman, in order to escape the imperial beauty selection, fled to the mountains. After fainting, she was rescued by an old nun and then was taken in as a nun. When the man returned from fishing, he found his home in a mess everywhere. He searched everywhere but did not know where his beloved had gone. The infatuated man then waited at home bitterly. Time flies like an arrow, and the heart is boundless. Eventually, his wish is not fulfilled. Later, he is disheartened and sees through the mortal world and shaves his head to become a monk. One day, this long-separated couple unexpectedly met in Taimu Mountain. They were filled with mixed emotions of joy and sorrow. They hugged each other tightly and told of their years of distress. Unconsciously, it was dusk. They then decided to go home and rebuild their home. Coincidentally, at this time, they were discovered by the master of Nanhai who was heading west. Despite their desperate pleas, the master mercilessly recited a spell and transformed this couple. Since then, the Lover’s Peak, also known as Couple Peak, has been left.
