Cuihu Wetland Park (Phase I) features large water surfaces such as Swan Lake, Goose Lake, and Lotus Pond, covering an area of approximately 20 hectares. The park’s water quality is under constant monitoring. The artificial wetland wastewater treatment system processes 120-170 tons of sewage daily, with an effluent quality that exceeds national Class III water standards. Out of 18 monitored indicators, 13 meet Class I water standards, two meet Class II, and three meet Class III.

The overall water quality of the park’s lakes is maintained between Class 3 and 4 surface water standards, which is better than the surrounding water quality. Upon entering the park, you will see a demonstration artificial wetland wastewater treatment system, which includes three units: surface flow wetland, subsurface flow wetland, and aquatic plant wetland, with a total process length of 250 meters, capable of deep treatment of suspended solids and phosphorus in surface water bodies.

Many black swans inhabit the waters of Swan Lake, feeding on aquatic animals and plants, nesting in hidden places by the water, laying 4-8 eggs per clutch, and living for 20-25 years. In addition to black swans, you can also see the graceful dancing of white egrets. The momentum of white egrets in flight is extraordinary, as described in the poem ‘Zhen Lu Yu Fei, Yu Bi Xi Yong’ from ‘Mao Tao? Zhou Song’. White egrets are naturally beautiful, with slender bodies and pure white feathers, appearing proud and elegant, like a noble Snow White.

In Swan Lake, there is also a larger bird species—the pelican. They have a very distinctive beak, large and yellow, especially the lower jaw, which has a large ‘pouch’ that allows pelicans to catch and store many small fish at once. You will also find various water birds and ducks hidden in the vast lake. Cuihu Wetland Park aims to prioritize wetland ecological protection, with wetland ecological landscapes as its main feature, striving to create a comprehensive science popularization wetland center that integrates wetland ecological tourism, cultural visits, and learning and research.
