The Culai Mountain and Wenhe River Scenic Area is located in the Dawen River section in the east of Tai’an urban area. It is composed of Tianze Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area and Culai Mountain Forest Park. The Tianze Lake water conservancy scenic area is composed of three impounding projects of Quanlin, Yanxie and Yanzhang, forming a large water surface landscape with a backwater length of 20 kilometers, a water surface of 18,000 mu, and a static water storage of 40 million cubic meters. The Culai Mountain scenic area is surrounded by the Wenhe River on three sides. The north side is called the Mouwen River, and the south side is called the Chaiwen River. The two merge at Dawenkou on the west side of Culai Mountain and flow into Dongping Lake. It is like a green pearl inlaid on the land of Qilu. The site of Dasi where the monument of the Culai Mountain anti-Japanese armed uprising is located is the place where the Shandong Provincial Party Committee independently led the first shot of the War of Resistance. It occupies an important position in military history and is an important red education base. There are more than 30 temples in the scenic area, such as Ganying Hou Temple, Fayun Temple, Sichan Temple, and Guanghua Temple. There are more than a dozen places of interest such as Mount Tai Shigandang, Shi Jie’s tomb, Qiaogou site, Zhongjunzhang, Liuyi in Zhuxi, and Zuoshu Workshop. Just as the Qing Dynasty poet Yao Nai described in “Climbing Mount Tai”: “Looking at the city walls in the sunset, the Wen River and Culai Mountain are as beautiful as paintings”.
