The Shakyamuni Nirvana Sacred Relic Grotto. The reclining Buddha is 31 meters long, with its head to the north and feet to the south, back to the east and facing west, lying on its right side. Its eyes are half-open and half-closed, as if sleeping but not quite. The reclining Buddha is a half-length statue. Its lower body is hidden in the rock. Its shape has appropriate proportions and a plump and sturdy body. Fourteen disciple statues stand in solemn respect in front of the Buddha. Like the reclining Buddha, they seem to emerge from the ground, only showing their upper bodies. Ancient craftsmen used a technique of implying rather than explicitly depicting. With a limited picture area, they express infinite artistic images, giving people an imaginative artistic conception, showing that the Buddha is immeasurably large. It is a masterpiece of Chinese grotto art. Opening hours: Open from 08:30 to 18:00 all year round.
