Dadu Wanxing Palace, also known as ‘Top Street Mazu Temple’, is a Mazu temple situated in Dadu, Taichung City. The Mazu enshrined here is referred to as ‘Flying Mother’ and ‘Top Street Mother’. The temple is renowned for its annual procession event, ‘Welcoming Mazu in Twenty Villages of Xibao’.
Constructed in the first year of the Qianlong era (1736), the temple spans a vast area, facing west and sitting east. It is adorned with an archway at the entrance to the temple courtyard, with layers of mountains serving as a picturesque backdrop. The architectural style is reminiscent of the hard mountain style found in North China.
The temple’s main ridge features two gracefully depicted phoenixes, with a divine being riding a tiger at the center. The side ridges are adorned with two dragons. Inside the main hall, one can find Mazu, Thousand-mile Eye, and Favourable Wind Ear. The back hall is dedicated to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Additionally, the left and right side niches house the Lady of Birth Giving and the City God, respectively.
Dadu Wanxing Palace is open to visitors all year round, with operating hours from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
