Dafo Rock Scenic Area is situated in the northwest of Peach Blossom Island. The area is known for its lush greenery, murmuring streams, and winding paths leading to secluded spots. The scenic area is famous for Dafo Rock, along with other important attractions such as the Archer Heroes Legend Tourism City and Qingyin Cave.
Dafo Rock: As a symbol of Peach Blossom Island, it is known as the ‘First Big Stone on the Southeast Coast.’ It is the main activity site of Huang Yaoshi, the island master of Peach Blossom Island in Jin Yong’s novel ‘The Archer Heroes.’ Its uniqueness lies in its size, which appears the same from both a distance and close up, especially under sunlight reflection. The base circumference of Dafo Rock is 268 meters, with a height of 72 meters, covering an area of 6239 square meters, at an altitude of 287 meters, and the top area is over a hundred square meters. Climbing Dafo Rock is a pleasant experience; although the climb is not difficult, one must still grasp vines, hold onto trees, and squeeze through caves and crevices, evoking a sense of ‘mountains and waters seem to block the way, willows dark, flowers bright, a village appears.’ Standing on top of Dafo Rock, one can gaze into the Zhoushan Archipelago, which resembles a water-based bonsai garden, offering a unique poetic charm.
Archer Heroes Legend Tourism City: As the birthplace of martial arts culture on Peach Blossom Island, in 2001, on the banks of the Sanhua Lake within the scenic area, an island film and television base – Archer Heroes Legend Tourism City was established. More than 50 buildings, constructed along the mountains and waters, imitate Song Dynasty pavilions, towers, and gates, creating landscapes such as Lin’an Street, Huang Yaoshi’s Manor, Guiyun Manor, and Emperor Nan Temple. All these landscapes are designed based on Jin Yong’s ‘The Archer Heroes,’ featuring profound Southern Song Dynasty architectural style and a mysterious martial arts atmosphere.
Qingyin Cave: Located in the middle of Dafo Rock, the cave entrance is inscribed with ‘Qingyin Cave,’ a natural rock cave with a stone seam inside, approximately 10 centimeters wide and over 20 meters long, reaching the top of the rock. Sunlight shines through the seam, making it a true ‘Slit in the Sky.’ The cave connects to the bottom of the rock, and voices from both ends can be clearly heard, hence the name ‘Qingyin Cave.’ Mr. Jin Yong provided an important description of this scenic spot in his book ‘The Archer Heroes,’ where Huang Yaoshi hid the ‘Nine Yin Manual’ and imprisoned the Old Urchin.
The entire area is open year-round from 08:00 to 17:00, with specific business hours subject to daily opening conditions.
