Introducing Dahongmen, also known as the Grand Palace Gate. It serves as the main entrance to the mausoleum. The gate features three arched doorways with a hall and eave roof. It is covered with yellow glazed tiles and constructed with brick and stone walls, all painted red. The gate is flanked by the enclosure walls of the cemetery. On the east and west sides in front of the gate, there are two steles carved from white jade, inscribed with the words ‘Officials and others must dismount here’. Anyone visiting the mausoleum must enter through this gate to signify the solemnity of the imperial tomb. Inside the gate, to the east, there used to be a dust-brushing hall, also known as the Shi Zhi Hall. It was built specifically for the emperor and empress to change clothes, but it no longer exists.
Opening hours: Open all day, every day of the year.
