Daitou Ancient Village is located within the territory of Daruoyan Town. Anciently known as Dai Chuan or Dai Gu, the terrain slopes from west to east, resembling a boat, hence referred to as the ‘boat-shaped land’. Constructed in the late Yuan Dynasty, the village is nestled against Jiuluo Mountain, with its cliffs dyed red, facing Wushan, which stands tall and lush. It is a village where the Chen clan resides, with a population of over 1400 people.
The central area of Daitou Ancient Village, from the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall to Wo Long Gang, is scattered with ancient buildings such as the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Jicui Hall, Mozhao Pond, Mozhao Shengxiang, Yuhou Hall, and Qu Lu. These structures are built against the mountainside, arranged in an orderly and layered manner. Particularly notable is the Huazhu Hall (also known as Luban Hall). Here, one can experience the profound cultural heritage of scholarly customs and the tradition of farming and reading. The space formed by Huazhu Hall, Yuhou Hall, and Wo Long Gang is free and elegant, with rich layers. Cultural and natural landscapes complement each other. The huge ancient camphor trees, unique wells, and graceful bamboo forests are captivating. On the opposite Wushan, there is a vast forest known as the ‘bird-sown forest’. It is said that the ancestors of Daitou beautified the bare mountains by offering food to attract birds, which led to the development of a forest from bird droppings containing tree seeds. Below the mountain, the fields are picturesque. Opening hours are from 01/01 to 12/31, 08:00-17:00.
