Dakeng Scenic Area, known as the ‘Yangming Mountain of Taichung City’, is located in Beitun District, Taichung City. It is bordered by Zhongxing Ridge to the north, Toukengshan to the east, Buzikeng Stream to the south, and Dalixi to the west. The scenic area is home to six natural streams: Dakeng Stream, Zhuoshuikeng Stream, Qingshuikeng Stream, Hengkeng Stream, Beikeng Stream, and Buzikeng Stream.
Although the elevation is only 850 meters, Dakeng Scenic Area remains enchanting due to its status as a water conservation forest, steep terrain, and minimal human development, preserving its pristine charm. The two ancient glacial periods and subsequent mountain-building activities have endowed the area with abundant natural resources. The Taichung City Government has developed eight hiking trails here, integrating leisure spots such as the Zhongzheng Camping Area and the Physical Fitness Training Field, making it a popular destination for hiking and fitness in Taichung City.
The scenic area is open all year round, with full-day service facilities available, including barrier-free services: barrier-free parking lots.
