Situated on the north side of Xinghai Square, the Dalian Modern Museum is a distinctive modern architectural structure. The museum houses a vast collection of historical and military artifacts, along with a wealth of images and text, presenting the historical, urban, and economic evolution of Dalian over the past century from various perspectives. The museum features various service facilities, including exhibition halls, an academic lecture hall, a multimedia search room, a café, and a shopping area. On the fourth floor, there is a 1000 square meter temporary exhibition hall. It stands as a symbol of Dalian’s cultural architecture entering the 21st century.
The entire building combines Chinese and Western modern styles, grand and luxurious, crystal clear and transparent, with a primary color scheme of white complemented by black, echoing the traditional Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang.
Opening hours are from April 1st to October 31st, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00; from November 1st to March 31st, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-16:30; the museum is closed all day on Mondays throughout the year. On New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, the museum is open from 09:00-17:00.
