Dalian Natural History Museum

The Dalian Natural History Museum is located on the Heishijiao seaside to the southwest of Dalian Xinghai Park. It is a beautiful and magnificent European-style building. The museum’s exhibits cover multiple fields such as geology, paleontology, animals and plants. The exhibits are very rich. Among them, the Psittacosaurus fossil and the Right whale specimen are very rare collections. The museum is a modern European-style building located by the sea. The exhibition hall is mainly divided into four floors and there are 12 themed exhibition halls such as Earth, Dinosaurs, Marine Life, Northeast Forest Animals, Wetlands, Species Diversity, and Liaoxi Paleontological Fossils. The museum houses nearly 200,000 various specimens. Among them, marine biological specimens and “Jehol Biota” fossil specimens are the characteristics of this museum. The quantity and types of biological specimens and fossils in the Dalian Natural History Museum rank among the top in the country, and there are many rare and precious exhibits. The Psittacosaurus fossil is a rare nest of dinosaur fossil specimens with a large number of individuals found so far in the world. There is also a Right whale specimen weighing 66.7 tons, which is also unique in China. In addition, there are fossil specimens of Mesophlebia splendidissima and Dalianophrys mengi, specimens of sperm whale, gray whale, and fin whale, as well as many exhibits such as various natural ores, meteorites, small animal specimens, and plant specimens. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 09:00 to 16:30; Closed all day on Monday all year round; Open from 09:00 to 16:30 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day.
