Dalian Tram – A Vintage Sightseeing Experience

The Dalian Tram is a stunning sight within the city of Dalian. Currently, two tram lines, Route 201 and Route 202, are still in operation. People can ride on these vintage trams, listening to the rhythmic clanking sounds, and feel the romance and vicissitudes of a century ago. Dalian is one of the few cities in China that still retains its trams, which were first introduced in 1909. Not only does the city preserve some trams from the 1930s (now used on Route 201), but it also showcases modernized trams (used on Route 202). For tourists, riding the old trams in Dalian is not just a mode of transportation but also a fascinating experience. These vintage trams feature a rustic exterior and distinctive wooden interiors. You can board these old ‘red-skinned’ or ‘green-skinned’ trams and leisurely travel through the central urban area of Dalian, savoring the nostalgic atmosphere.

Effective August 1st, the operating hours for Route 201 have been officially adjusted: The first tram from Huale Square has been changed from 4:10 to 5:30, and the last tram from 23:45 to 22:30; the first tram from Xinggong Street has been changed from 4:20 to 5:30, and the last tram from 23:50 to 22:30. The Haizhiyun Park line of Route 201 has been renamed as Route 201 Interval, and the last tram from Huale Square to Haizhiyun Park has been advanced from 19:50 to 19:40. The summer extended operation from Huale Square to Haizhiyun Park, which was from May 1st to October 31st each year, has been canceled.

Effective August 1st, the operating hours for Route 202 have been officially adjusted: The first tram from Xiaoping Island Front has been advanced from 5:30 to 5:00; the first tram from Xinggong Street has been changed from 5:30 to 5:50, and the last tram has been extended from 22:40 to 22:50.
