Daliaojia Island is located in Daya Bay, separated by a strip of water from Aotou Port. It is the second largest island among the graceful hundreds of islands in Daya Bay. It is said that Daliaojia was originally called Daliujia, which means the combination of six islands. However, most of the fishermen here speak Chaoshan dialect. In Chaoshan dialect, ‘six’ is pronounced the same as ‘spicy’ in Mandarin. So, people have agreed to call it ‘Lajia Island’. The beach on the island stretches continuously, and colorful shells are scattered among them. Mitra mitra, Angaria delphinus, Hemifusus ternatanus, small conches, scallops and so on are countless. It is simply a hodgepodge of shellfish and seafood. If you pick up shells along the beach, the experience is wonderful. Daliaojia Island was once a military important place. After being converted for civilian use, it became a salted fish purchasing and processing base under Huiyang Fisheries Bureau. Due to insufficient investment and construction conditions, the island service industry of Daliaojia Island has been difficult to develop for several times. It was not until 1998 that Daliaojia Island was officially opened to tourists as a scenic tourist spot. Open all year round and all day.
