Daling Village, originally named Pushan Village, is located in the northwest of Shi Lou Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou City. It is affectionately known by neighboring villagers as the ‘Millennium Ancient Village’, having been established over 800 years ago and recognized as one of China’s historical and cultural villages. Its charm emanates from the ancient pagodas, ancestral halls, and oyster shell walls scattered among smaller settlements. ‘Lijiao River Head, Half-moon Ancient Village’ characterizes the overall layout of Daling Village. The village is built alongside water, with residents orderly arranged between the foot of Pushan and the Daling Chong, forming a crescent-shaped layout.
Daling Village is centered around an ancient street, branching into alleys, creating a two-tiered traffic system of ‘main street and alleys’, resulting in a ‘fishbone’ pattern of streets and alleys. Overall, the traditional village texture is clear, the layout is complete, and it holds high historical and aesthetic value. As a typical Lingnan ancient village, Daling Village still preserves a relatively intact Lingnan-style architectural complex of approximately 9000 square meters.

Inside the village, there is an ancient stone bridge spanning over the river; an ancient pagoda standing at the southwest corner of the village; ancestral halls with large-scale wood carving features; gate towers, archways, flagstone lanes, ancient trees, and oyster shell walls are ubiquitous in the village, making it a rare sight in the economically developed Pearl River Delta region.

Daling Village has left behind numerous historical sites, with nearly ten famous attractions. The Chen Family Ancestral Hall ‘Liu Yuan Hall’, built during the Southern Song Dynasty; the ‘Xian Zong Ancestral Hall’, also known as Ning De Hall, originally constructed during the Ming Jiajing period, is the ancestral hall of the ninth generation of the Chen family; Longjin Bridge is an ancient bridge built during the Qing Kangxi period, made of red sandstone, with one pier and two arches, spanning over the Yudai River.

On both sides of the bridge deck, there are 16 balusters and 15 slabs, carved with patterns of scroll grass and the Eight Immortals’ hidden treasures. A unique feature is a Westerner depicted in a kneeling posture holding a tray on one slab at the northwest end of the bridge. Adjacent to Longjin Bridge, Da Kui Pavilion Tower, originally constructed in the Qing Guangxu period (1884), is a three-story pavilion-style brick tower with a flagstone base, blue brick walls, a hexagonal plan, and a six-pointed spire, standing over 20 meters high.

Opening hours: The village is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
